Coronavirus: Ciara Postpones Texas Concert

Ciara is the latest artist to cancel a scheduled show as a result of the Coronavirus epidemic.

The Grammy-winning singer, who is expecting her third child, was set to take the stage at the grand opening of the new Fort Hood USO on March 19, but she announced her plans to postpone on Saturday.

“With the continued spread of the coronavirus throughout the U.S., as a pregnant woman, my doctors have advised me to limit travel and large group gatherings,” Ciara said in a statement. “I am disappointed I won’t be able to return this month to the place where I was born, Ft. Hood Texas, and put on the amazing show we had planned.”

The grand opening was also rescheduled to the Summer, which is also when the concert will go down. “I urge everyone to be diligent in taking steps to stay healthy and safe,” Ciara said.

The singer’s announcement comes the following day after organizers announced the annual SXSW festival and conference in Austin is cancelled.

Do you think organizers are taking necessary precautions or is the media overreacting? Sound off in the comments.
