Yesterday, DaniLeigh previewed her song “Yellow Bone” on her Instagram, sparking a major discussion about colorism. Many Twitter users shared their thoughts while questioning the singer’s “afro-latina” roots. While some Twitter users discussed the singer’s ethnicity, others brought up Meme, DaBaby’s daughters mother.
Now, the gag here seems to be DaniLeigh choice of words in her “Yellow Bone” song. The preview features Dani singing lyrics, “yellow bone is what he want,” while dancing. Furthermore, her boyfriend, DaBaby, comments on the post in a supportive way while others made comments accusing her of colorism. After Dani caught wind of the claims, she responds in the comments as well.
“Why y’all think I’m hating on other colors when there are millions of songs speaking on all types… Why y’all so sensitive & take it personal… Gahhhh damn.”
Since her initial IG post, the singer has removed the teaser from her Instagram feed. Also, Dani seems to have deleted her main account on Twitter. The disappearance of her account seems to come after she tweeted about how she wasn’t sorry and that only God could judge her. However, Twitter users have been continuing the discourse about Dani, speculating that the “Yellow Bone” song is sending shots to Meme.
Tweets that claim DaniLeigh’s “Yellow Bone” song is shade toward DaBaby’s baby mother does not seem to be too far fetched.
Last month (December 2020), tensions grew between both DaniLeigh and Meme, DaBaby’s BM, after a series of subliminal posting from the two. After DaBaby returned home to his current girlfriend DaniLeigh, the singer posted photos of the two on IG. Mind you, this came after DaBaby spent some time with his children, as well as Meme of course.
Shortly after the singer, as well as the DaBaby, went public, Meme responded. The baby mother took to IG to post to her a story a picture of both her and the rapper while captioning it “was this a month ago?”
