Two recent surprise Hip-Hop albums acquired enough units to debut among the most popular albums of the week. Future’s Beast Mode 2 commercial mixtape and Meek Mill’s Legends Of The Summer EP both landed spots on the Billboard 200 Top 10.
Beast Mode 2 debuted in the No. 3 spot with 57,000 units. This total provided rapper Future the highest charting, streaming-exclusive album of all time. The rapper, who is originally from Atlanta set the new record after surpassing Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book numbers. Coloring Book peaked at #8 in 2016 and previously held the now broken record.
Future, however, is no stranger to setting Billboard records, since just last year, he became the first artist to have back-to-back No. 1 albums with two separate releases over two consecutive weeks. He did so with self-titled project FUTURE and HNDRXX. Rapper Meek Mill earned 26,000 units upon the release of Legends Of The Summer, bringing Meek Mill his fifth Top 10 debut on the Billboard 200. Drake’s Scorpion returned to No. 1 with an additional 335,000 album units in its second week.
Each EP, mixtape, and album is now available on all major platforms. Check out the mixtape artwork Future shared to Instagram prior to his release of the project!
