Shockwaves were sent through the Hip Hop community when news broke that the Feds swept at least 28 members and associates of the record label, YSL, including Young Thug and Gunna.
According to culture reporter, Jewel Wicker, Gunna was denied bond and won’t see trial until January 2023. Wicker unleashed a series of tweets after attending the trial hearing and reported that Prosecutors are labeling the collective as a gang, not just a record label.
“They also alleged Gunna serves in a “command” role,” she tweeted. “Prosecutors said Gunna is a “documented” gang member and that he and Williams “direct their troops” to commit violent acts. The judge said his biggest concern was witness tampering.”
The 56-count indictment includes charges of conspiring to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, murder, armed robbery, and participation in criminal street gang activity.
Gunna is set for trial next year meanwhile the YSL head honcho, Thugger, was reportedly transferred to Cobb County from Fulton County Jail. The reason is unclear but the indictment mentioned the “Hot” rapper’s ongoing feud with YFN Lucci, who is currently jailed in Fulton County.
Prosecutors claim Thug ordered a hit on Lucci while he was in Fulton County. This move was presumably done to avoid any more violence.
