Power Book II’s Michael Rainey Jr. Shares The Best Advice He Received From 50 Cent

Power Book II star, Michael Rainey Jr., ascended past the shadows of Ghost and is carving his own lane as Tariq St. Patrick in the second season of the series. 

He went from being one of the most hated characters on television, to the underdog that everyone roots for weekly

Two Bees TV caught up with the young rising star at the NYC red carpet premiere of season 2 and he shared one of the biggest lessons he learned from being apart of the Power universe for the last seven years. 

“We basically watched you grow up throughout the past seven years from the first power to now, what is one of the biggest lessons that you’ve learned since then?” Miss2Bees asked, to which the 21-year-old responded, “There [are] so many lessons I learned, but there’s definitely one thing that always sticks to me in any situation I’m in that 50 told me a minute ago.”

He continued, “Never feel too entitled because that’s when you deprive yourself. So when you feel too entitled to something else, it could be something way big out there that’s a blessing, and you ignoring that cuz [you’re] entitled to one thing. So [you] just gotta be open minded and can’t be too entitled. That’s really it.”

When asked what fans can expect from his character in this season of Power Book II, Michael responded that Tariq is “so adamant on just not accepting the fact that he’s like his father. Like this season, you see him fighting that and this he’s figuring himself out. And I feel like the biggest part of him figuring himself out, knowing himself, is knowing and accepting the fact that he’s like Ghost.”
