Salsa is still alive ladies and gents! Sony Music Latin will officially partner with Celia Cruz’s label, Fania Records and content/talent agency CTMOBS on a brand new TV series called Sangre Nueva.
The series is expected to premiere in early 2019 and the show is expected to follow some of today’s music superstars as they revisit the hits of Fania Records legends such as Celia Cruz, Hector Lavoe, Johnny Pacheco, Willie Colón, Rubén Blades and more!
The TV series will follow each artist during their exploration of Fania’s extensive catalog, which includes over 15,000 original master recordings. Every artist will create their own covers and renditions of a Fania Records classic hit. Executive Producer and Latin singer Nicky Jam said, “We are excited to bring together the world’s leading Latin artists and music producers through their shared passion for Fania’s repertoire.”
Fania Records CEO Stuart Livingston also shared his thoughts on the upcoming series:
“This is an exciting opportunity to pay tribute to Fania’s artists and to introduce some of salsa’s all-time greatest hits to new audiences. We are thrilled to be working with CTMOBS and Sony Music Latin on this series.”
There is not set premiere date yet.
