Matt Groening the creator behind the famous television series The Simpsons has confirms that fans theories were in fact true. Fans speculated that Michael Jackson’s voice was heard in a 1991 episode titled “Stark Raving Dad.” In the episode, a psychiatric patient of a mental institution called the Simpson’s home and introduced himself as Michael Jackson.
For more than two decades fans of the animated series debated whether that really was the voice of the King of Pop. Groening has confirmed that Jackson did play a part and actually reached out to Groening about getting a part on the show.
The credit for the character said otherwise, the credit read John Jay Smith rather than Michael Jackson. Groening says, “He did the show, he didn’t want credit for it — it was some kind of deal with his record company or whatever. So when it came time to sing the songs, he had a sound alike singer. And he stood there and watched the guy who was so nervous, who had to sound like Michael Jackson.”
