Travis Scott’s Attorney Slams Houston PD For ‘Finger-Pointing’

Travis Scott held his third annual Astroworld Festival in Houston and the first day ended in chaos, with a reported 11 people dead and hundreds injured following a stampede. Astroworld came to an end after the first day because chaos erupted as the large crowd began advancing towards the stage. So far two lawsuits have been fired off: Manuel Souza named Travis, Live Nation, and organizers Score More in his lawsuit calling the tragedy a consequence of “a motivation for profit at the expense of concertgoers’ health and safety” and the “encouragement of violence.

Travis broke his silence early Saturday afternoon. “I am absolutely devastated by what took place last night. My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival,” La Flame wrote. He continued, “I am committed to working together with the Houston community to heal and support families in need.”Travis concluded his statement thanking all the first responders and the venue, “Love You All.” Travis Scott was set to make an appearance at the Day n Vegas Festival this weekend but canceled following the Astroworld tragedy in his hometown. Variety reports that Travis is “too distraught to play” and will be refunding all the attendees of his annual festival.

Earlier this month the attorney of  Travis Scott has spoken out following the crowd surge at Astroworld Festival. He added “There has been multiple finger-pointing, much of which has been by city officials, who have sent inconsistent messages and have backtracked from original statements,” Edwin F. McPherson wrote. “Houston Police Chief Troy Finner was quoted in the New York Times as saying, ‘You cannot just close when you got 50,000 and over 50,000 individuals. We have to worry about rioting, riots, when you have a group that’s that young.’ Yet, just a short time later, Chief Finner states the responsibility to stop the show falls on Travis.”
