As Black Panther sprints to the billionaire boy club, fans are already wanting more.
Eric Hamilton launched a Change.org petition, urging for the production of a series from Marvel and Netflix which is centered around Wakanda. The petition was started last week and already has over 4,000 of its desired 5,000 signatures.
According to Hamilton’s petition, he doesn’t think a spinoff is a reach.
Telling the back story of Wakanda would be a game changer. How did Wakanda become the most technologically advanced country on Earth? From the technology to the artistry coupled with the rich African traditions, the fans demand more. The Black Panther fan base would love to see a Wakanda Series on Netflix. This series would expand the depth of the Marvel universe and we feel Marvel/Disney would enjoy creating and adapting these stories as much as we would love watching them.
The petition also notes Netflix’s long-running, successful relationship with Marvel with hit series like Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and The Punisher. But Hamilton should’ve did his homework first.
With Disney preparing to launch its own streaming service next year, and all Marvel shows will be housed on their platform, it was probably best to aim this petition in Disney’s direction. But let’s see what happens because there’s already talks of a Black Panther sequel, and the blockbuster is still making history at the box office.
