9 New York Female Rappers You Should Know

Do you know these New York female rappers?

Hip Hop is a predominantly male-dominated industry but the story of female rap is important and illustrious.

As the genre continues to evolve it’s important to keep our leading ladies at the forefront of the most influential form of entertainment.

There has been a spotlight on New York ever since the introduction of Bobby Shmurda and Rowdy Rebel in 2014. They ushered in the current Brooklyn drill wave that the late Pop Smoke continues to dominate, but there isn’t too much talk about the girls who are putting in work too.

In honor of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day today, Two Bees TV wants to shine a spotlight on the femcees who are pushing the culture forward.

Take a look at 9 New York female rappers you should know:

9. Armani Caesar

Armani Caesar is hailed as the First Lady of Griselda Records, an independent label in her hometown of Buffalo, New York. She released her major-label debut, The Liz, last September but she has so much more to tell.

8/7. Shaa Biggaa & Siddity

This New York duo gained attention after the freestyle below showcasing their gritty, lyrical prowess and chemistry went viral. They have a project out titled Girl Code and they’re still recording new music.

6. Cryssy Bandz

Cryssy Bandz is coming straight outta Brooklyn and has been grinding for a while. She was named Unsigned Hype by The Source Magazine and enlisted fellow New York rapper, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, for her song Halo.

5. Lola Brooke

Lola Brooke consistently drops new hard-hitting records and already received nods from Hip Hop heavyweights like Snoop Dogg and Meek Mill.

4. Cokah

Another Brooklyn spitter, Cokah is known for her Facebook viral freestyles. She is backed by Jerry Wonda’s independent label, Wonda Music, and has worked with iconic artists like Akon and Wyclef Jean.

3. Young Devyn

Young Devyn is a young rising rapper who you might recognize from the BET Hip Hop Awards cypher. The self-proclaimed “baby goat” proudly represents her Trinidadian roots and is getting spins on New York airwaves.

2. Kiyanne

You might know Kiyanne from Love and Hip Hop: New York. The reality series doesn’t showcase too much of the artists’ music but you can watch one of her fire freestyles on Instagram.

1. Lady London

Lady London is currently residing in Los Angeles but she is a New York native. You can feel the raw emotion when she spits, which is presumably why she has a sound on TikTok which evolved into a popular challenge.
