Cicely Tyson’s public funeral is scheduled for Monday, February 15th in New York City.
It will be held at Abyssinian Baptist Church, 132 Odell Clark Place (formerly 138th St).
COVID-19 protocols will be enforced but photography will be prohibited.
Cicely Tyson passed away last week at the age of 96. She became the symbolism of a strong Black woman starring in roles as the sharecropper’s wife in Sounder, which won her an Oscar nod. She also secured two Emmys for The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman and won a Tony Award for The Trip to Bountiful.
A few days ahead of her homegoing, she released her memoir, Just As I Am, which is out of stock on Amazon.
