Houston Rockets guard is taking his talent to film field. The NBA superstar is set to produce a series about the 1921 massacre, the 18-hour mob attacks on home and businesses in the predominately black Greenwood neighborhood of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The name of the series will be titled “Terror In Tulsa: The Rise And Fall Of Black Wall Street,” according to Variety. Russell serve as executive producer and will be collaborating with documentary filmmaker Stanley Nelson and the production company Blackfin.

The former Oklahoma City Thunder player for 11 years before being traded to Houston in July 2019, tweeted “ spending 11 years in Oklahoma opened my eyes to the rich and sordid history of the state…I learned about the heartbreaking events that happened in Tulsa nearly 100 years ago, I knew this was a story I wanted to tell.”

Considered one of the nation’s worst incidents of racial violence, the reported death total was 36, but in 2001 Oklahoma commission said it’s likely that 100-300 people were killed.
