Last month when the news broke that Saved By The Bell’s Dustin Diamond was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, we didn’t think we’ll be saying goodbye so soon.
The actor’s management announced that he succumbed to his brief battle with cancer via Facebook. “In that time, it managed to spread rapidly throughout his system; the only mercy it exhibited was its sharp and swift execution,” his team’s statement said. “Dustin did not suffer. He did not have to lie submerged in pain. For that, we are grateful.”
Diamond’s condition was reportedly declining drastically and he was taken off of breathing tubes to be transferred to hospice care.
He was originally hospitalized for widespread pain and feared that the pain was connected to cancer due to his family’s history and his mother passing away from breast cancer.
Diamond is best known for his role as Screech on the beloved sitcom which ran from the late 80s to the early 90s.
Dustin Diamond’s father and girlfriend were by his side at the time of his untimely passing. He was only 44.
