After remaining practically silent for a week following the untimely passing of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller from an apparent drug overdose, Ariana Grande wrote an emotional tribute to her “dearest friend” on Instagram.
“I adored you from the day I met you when I was nineteen, and I always will,” Grande wrote. “I can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. I really can’t wrap my head around it.”
“You were my dearest friend,” she continued. “I’m so sorry I couldn’t fix or take your pain away. I really wanted to. The kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. I hope you’re okay now. Rest.”
Ariana Grande’s post had comments disabled and came with a touching video of them enjoying a quiet dinner. He was wearing a sweatshirt that read, “Everything will be okay.” He seemed peaceful and at ease. Grande recorded him trying to tell a story when he laughed and tried to get her to stop.
This is the first time the singer has directly addressed Mac’s passing. She previously posted a black and white picture of him without a caption.
