LeBron James new documentary, Shut Up and Dribble is a three-part series that will center on the evolving role athletes, mainly those in the NBA, play in the current political environment.
Ironically, the title was inspired by Fox News political commentator, Laura Ingraham, after she made an offensive remark about Kevin Durant and James, claiming that they needed to “shut up and dribble” and stay out of politics.
Former ESPN personality, Jemele Hill, will narrate the documentary. This will be Hill’s first project since confirming last Friday that she was leaving ESPN.
In the past, Hill was reprimanded by ESPN with a two-week suspension after calling President Donald Trump a white supremacist on her Twitter account.
She was also reprimanded by ESPN after suggesting an advertiser boycott as a way to protest Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’ stance on mandating players stand for the national anthem.
Following the news of the new docu-series produced by James, Hill stated, “I think LeBron, like a lot of people, has been very frustrated by the behavior of this administration,” …”[Black Americans] feel very insulted and vulnerable within this time because of who’s in charge.”
Shut Up and Dribble is set to premiere this November on Showtime. Will you be watching?
